Effective: July 27, 2026. Operated by Meipath LLC ("we"). Applies to the berkshirescan.com website and the Berkshire Scanner iOS app.
Berkshire County Scanner republishes automated transcriptions of publicly broadcast police, fire, and EMS radio in Berkshire County, Massachusetts. Transcripts are generated by automated speech recognition and language models; they may contain errors and are not official records.
The app has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs, and it does not collect contact information, identifiers, or your location. It requests transcript, map, summary, and status data from our servers (those requests appear in server logs like any web request). The one thing it sends that originates with you is transcript search text, which goes to our servers to run that search; because our access logs record the request path, search text is retained in those logs on the same rolling basis as any other request. It is not linked to any account or identity — the app has none — and is not used for tracking or advertising. On your device the app stores three small items: a flag in the iOS Keychain recording that you have seen the first-launch content notice, a marker file recording that the first launch happened, and your chosen recap sort order. The app's App Store privacy label declares Search History, not linked to you and not used for tracking.
All published content originates from publicly broadcast, unencrypted radio transmissions received via a legal scanner, consistent with federal law (18 U.S.C. § 2511) and Massachusetts law. Transmissions may incidentally reference members of the public; we publish only what was already publicly broadcast. To request review or removal of a specific transcript, contact us — see below.
We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties. Our hosting providers process data on our behalf solely to operate the service. We may disclose information if required by law.
The service is not directed at children and is rated 18+ on the App Store due to the nature of live public-safety traffic.
We will post any changes to this page and update the effective date above.
[email protected]. This is the same address the iOS app and our Legal page publish, and it is the route for transcript review or removal requests.
